Hi from a soon to be MkVI Golf GTi owner. I've just put a deposit on a white 6-speed 3-door car and should take delivery within a month.
Tested a DSG car but was very disappointed. >30years of owning manuals is a hard habit to break.
I actually went in to negotiate on a GTD but got a better price on the GTi and, I have to admit, the thought of owning a car with more that 3 doors ended up being too much. Most of my previous cars have been 2 or 3-door and apart from a Mini and a Nissan Pulsar all have been rear wheel drive.
My trouble free daily driver for the last 5 and a half years is a Lotus Elise now fitted with a Jap Spec Honda Civic Type R drivetrain. After 110,000km it is time to retire it to weekend and fun time driving. I'm sure the Golf will be a nice soft daily option and I'm sure I won't be able to resist the temptation to see how it compares on the racetrack.
