Hey all, my name's Shan, and I'm a first time VW owner. Yeesh, I sound like I'm at an AA meeting.
I'm just about to take ownership of a Golf GLE MK4 (2000) sporting an epic 2.0L 8V. I've bought it for putting (get it?) around town, pretty much to and from work... but given my history with cars I'm sure in due time I'll have voided every benefit to owning one of these cars with mods.
A bit about me...
I'm 29, live in Dandenong, VIC, love taking things apart, fail at putting them back together, I'm a ninja at web design and programming, and looove tinkering with gadgets.
My most noteable contribution that seems to strike any brownie points with revheads is that I help run Skylines Australia. I've owned a skyline of some sort (pretty much every variant you can think of) since 1999. I also work with J-Spec Imports so I'm fairly heavily involved with imports of all sorts. We've just gained eligibility to import Scirocco's to oz, so based on my experience with the Golf, I may trade up to one in the future... maybe. Depends how long my love affair with a hot hatch lasts I guess.
My current cars are:
1991 Nissan Skyline R32 GTS4 (coupe, 2L turbo, makes about 210awkw)
1990 Nissan Cefiro A31 (sedan, same 2L turbo as the R32, stock standard, my current daily)
1995 Nissan 200SX S14 (production class race car, used to run a 3.5L N/A, now reverted back to 2L turbo)
I just sold a 1973 Chevvy Camaro that I imported from the US (some of which got used to buy the golf,) and will be selling the Cefiro and the 200SX in the near future (apparently this is a sign that I'm getting old).
Look forward to hassling you guys about VW specific mods. I'm sure I'll get a few dirty looks on here as I seem to have a blatant disregard for ADR's, and also acclimatising to taking possession of my first ever road registered australian delivered car in my 12 year driving history.
