Hello All,
I am John, I am from Sydney and new to this forum, thank you for allowing me to join and I look forward to sharing assistance and a story or two where possible.
I own a VW GOLF 2.0 FSI hatchback (2005), a nice car with no issues at all. My problem starts here, last year a car drove at high speeds and very close to mine and swiped my right-hand-side external mirror. This cause the external cover to crack a little (micro hairline crack). I was fortunate the mirror folded forward which during the impact prevented further damage. All was well, the mirror worked fine (heater, indicator and adjustment system) until a few days ago where the indicator suddenly dimmed when it flashed and now has stopped working all together.
I checked all my lights, and no other globes are burnt-out, therefore I must conclude the fault is localized to the mirror. We recently had a heavy rain storm in Sydney followed by a few days of persistent rain, and I suspect water might have entered the LED assembly of the indicator and caused damaged.
Could I please request your assistance in letting me know what might be the actual cause and how it can be fixed. I look forward to any support which can be provided. Hopefully someone has experienced and resolved an identical fault.
Thank You,
John (Jkay)
