VIC Newbie with a service question..

G'day.. I new and just found this forum, congrats and thanks...I have a question regarding the dreaded 60000 km service, (mind you it's only done just over 38,000 km, but they reckon it's now on the Years/Time rather than the Kilometres!), for my 2005 2 ltr FSI manual Golf. I just booked it it at Camberwell VW in Doncaster, I hit the floor when they said it was $900.00! I then read a thread that indicated that was the going rate for a VW dealer service, So before I bend over and take it like a man (apologies for those offended!).. I did some searching in the net and found fixedpriceservice.com.etc taht there were 7 or 8 places near me that can do it for between $500.00 and $700.00, so my questions is -
What does a VW dealer service do that these other guys wouldn't do for the extra $200-$400?
