Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I’ve gone full circle

    Hi Guys & Girls

I'm new to the forum bought my pre loved R32 from Rob who is on this forum and has done a wonderful job of looking after the car, it’s in immaculate condition.

I’m not wealthy by any means, however in my 33 years of driving I’ve had a variety of cars starting with my first back in 1976 a 1968 VW Beetle, MINI Cooper LS 1275, Bedford Van, Toyota Celica, Holden 5Ltr V8, Volvo 242GT, Volvo 240, Volvo 760, Ford F250 V8, Ford Falcon Ute, Toyota Hi Ace Van, Holden Jackaroo, Toyota Tarago, Ford Fairmont, Chrysler Grand Voyager, BMW M3 E36, MINI Cooper S, Honda Civic TypeR, BMW X5 and now gone full circle with a VW Golf R32.

OK that said I live in Sydney and love drive days so I’ll be joining in as many as possible, having been part of the MINI Community since 2005 my family and I have covered a lot of Australia now

Career wise my wife and I are Network Engineer’s in the IT Industry, originally photography was a hobby which eventually moved to professional Wedding & Event photography with my partner Peter (Snapper) who currently still drives a MIN Cooper S, however as he would say “You trying to draw me over to the dark side JohnnyG”

Actually I know some people on this forum from the MINI forum Liam & Floody Hi Guys

Big thanks to Jeloz for his thread VW's 3 Year Extended Warranty I took up the warranty with Southern Classic cars and saved a bundle so this forum has proved its self already

More photos of my R32 can be found here

      Nice collection of cars.

I love the wheels on the 32! They look OEM. I've never seen them before.

Not as cool as the R32 the paint is so thin after a few country drives heaps of stone chips, seamed to be a world wide issue many disgruntled
owners, also lacks torque sold after owning it for 11 months
