Hello, needing to move on from a very reliable T4 petrol manual van and contemplating the T5 as 1.9 or 2.5 diesel. I'm using the van to transport family and occassionally towing heavy logs for carving.
Also travelling a lot of km's so needing an economical drive. I'm looking at secondhand crewvans and impressd by economy of the 1.9's but wondering if they will actually tow a trailer up to a ton? Our other car is a dsg Caddy Life which carries the family well. Hard to imagine the same engine pulls a transporter around.
Other option is the 2.5. I'd prefer the manual but seems mainly autos available as secondhand at the moment. Is the automatic less happy with the towing? Can someone give me an idea of the economy difference between the manual and auto 2.5 diesel and the 1.9? Any advice here appreciated.
Thanks
PhilC
