Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Tiggy battery

First VW (Tiguan 140TDi Highline) purchased in Dec 2016 after 3 BMWs and a M Benz. Tiggy is better than any of them, but as I am now retired it may be that it's just easier to get in and out of! But perfect vehicle for rural NSW that is not overly expensive yet has some go in it.

Just spotted a thread on batteries and thought I'd share my experience. Car was built in sept 2016 (2017 model year) and is still on the original battery (Varta). Don't use the stop/start and it's the first thing I switch off when starting the car. Cynical maybe but I think of the starter motor, battery and flywheel ring gear life and as I'm not in the city stop/start is pointless.

It's now done 98k kms and I'm on the original brake pads too despite my spirited driving. Great car!
