Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA Hello Watercoolers

After a long list of camping rigs that started with a T2 Kombi, we now own a 2008 T5 4Motion Trakkadu. It's the very distinctive lime/yellow colour and was purchased in Victoria and driven back to WA. It has the Seikel suspension lift, diff lock and a snorkel. I must say I am impressed with its ability to drive along soft sandy tracks just using the torque available at idle in first gear. The 2.5TD 132kw engine is impressive - but not without some problems. All in all, a fabulous vehicle - fast, very comfortable and brilliantly space efficient. I picked up 4 lengths of treated pine at 3 metres long; rotated the passenger's seat, dropped down the 'click clack' bed and just put them inside. Try that with an SUV!
