Hello everyone, Connor here. From Sunshine Coast - Qld.
I have been subscribed to this forum (on tapatalk app on my phone - this is really the only way for me to view forums currently, luckily it seems to work fairly well and the search function above all else seems rather helpful
)
I have been a member of other forums in the past, worked on and owned a few interesting cars.
About a couple of years ago I bought myself a MY12.5 golf GTI - one of the best decisions I think I have made. I am so glad I finally made the switch over to Euro. Slightly more sophisticated, clean, comfortable and amazing to drive, and due to warranties and the likes, I no longer have to spend every waking moment buried in my engine bay and exhausting my wallet trying to keep an old car on the road, while it may be fun, with limited funds it is definately taxing to say the least, not to mention being the only car you have to get to and from work. I do miss getting my hands dirty, but for now the nitty gritty work is out of my hands, - oh and I have also used the warranty and buying from a dealership to my advantage a few times already
As I said, I have been subscribed to this forum for a while now, finally decided to create an account the other weekend as I have been seeing more and more posts/conversations that I wouldn't mind being a part of. First step is to say hi and introduce myself, 1. Because that is part of the rules, and 2. I'd like to make myself known before getting involved in any interesting conversations
And I must say, from what I have seen this forum seems a lot ... better, to say the least, than past forums I have been on hahaha.
Now without any more blabbering on, the main reason we are all here.... the cars -
As stated above, I have a
MY12.5 Golf GTI
Deep Orcha Black
Some tasteful mods - done before purchase which was a great bonus
LED Tailights
Mk6 R spec rims
K&N pod filter housed in a very tidy carbon fibre surround
Apparently the guys I bought it off thought it had an aftermarket intercooler setup aswell - I dont believe so ( they "discovered" this after I had bought the car and bought it back for a very odd reason) I wont get I to the issues I HAVE had with the car, not as many as some but a few more than I would like, although I have been rather lucky to have them all tended too, usually without too much hassle
There is also the possibility that it has a slight most likely stage 1 tune - but I am yet to delve any deeper and investigate this. It is working wonderfully for now, still under warranty, and well I currently have a few more pressing issues to work on rather than modifying my already great car
(The main reason I believe it may have a slight tune already basically is because I had a Mk7 R Golf (DSG) come flying up behind me one day up a hill. I simply dropped it from 6th to 3rd gear and planted my foot, fully expecting to be blasted past by a newer more powerful version. But to my surprise he never passed my front wheel until I backed up due to traffic and needing to turn off anyway. Now whether that fully comes down to driver skill, or I do have such a slight tune I do not currently know.
However - modifications are starting to whirr away in my brain, I think some may be in the not too distant future
(Unfortunately I do have some slight damage to my rear passenger door - dont ask, I was very sick, in a chemist carpark next to a very low wall with sun in my eyes - do I need to say anymore? Haha, the damage will be getting fixed one day, hopefully soon.
And currently I dont have too many other photos on my phone, apparently I dont take as many of my car as I used to, and some got corrupted and have a big grey line through the image -.- woo for technology haha.
Hopefully this was a decent introduction - I am always happy to be apart of any conversation, offer any help that I can - I am still learning the ins and outs of VW and Euro cars, they definately have a different attitude and temperament when it comes to their behavior than Jap cars do. But this is all a fun learning curve and I hope you will all help me along the way with what I dont know, and hopefully I can offer some help myself, whether it be with cars or general discussions that may pop up
P.s. - I need some good VW and golf buddies hahaha
