Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW MKV TDI 2009 Jetta DPF issue with constant regen

    Hi everyone,
I have been a member on this forum for just 2 years and it has been a very helpful resource throughout my ownership of Jetta. I have had numerous issues with my jetta over past 4 years of ownership and I have always found a solution to fix it thorough this forum.

Today I have came again here to ask for help in relation my recent DPF issue. I am quite familiar with how the regens work on a DPF and have also read so many threads on this forums regards to DPF.
I own a genuine VCDS cable so I have uploaded some logs from last couple of days for troubleshooting.
My Jetta TDI 2009 2.0L has been going into constant regen mode almost every 100 - 120 kms.

In December 2017, very first time I saw DPF light came up while I was doing a short trip around my home and then it disappeared for almost 1.5 months. Since February I have noticed that my car constantly goes into regen every couple of days and I thought to check and monitor it with VCDS cable.

I have not had any errors/faults apart from last week the car showing dpf light and 5 minutes later the car showed the glow plug sign and went into limp mode. I then plugged the VCDS cable and saw the soot value reached almost 45gm + in no time. I then performed emergency regen while driving for almost 60kms on freeway and then it cleared the error and car went back to normal.

I still can't figure out from looking at the logs from past two days on why is the car going into regen almost every 100kms when the soot levels are not even 5 - 6 gms.. both calculated and measured.

I know that differential pressure sensor values overrides the soot values and controls the regen but it still doesn't make sense to me what is actually causing the issue.

Previously the car use to drive for about 800 kms before it went into active regen.
I do 75% highway and 25% urban driving on daily basis.
The car has done about 179,000kms
The oil Ash volume is 108ml

Can anyone please point me in the right direction before I start looking at DPF cleaning or replacement ?
I have attached links to view the files here if any one can point me in the right direction.
    Thank you heaps in advance!
