Thanks Clay - I have no doubt you and Aaron will be keeping an eye on everyone.Originally posted by team_v View PostAgreed.
Also, as the organisers for these events Redline and Myself will be keeping an eye on everyone out there and if we see anyone doing anything stupid they are getting a warning and if they continue to flout the safety of these events they will be bannned from attending either event (QR/Lakeside)
Hopefully people will chill out a bit before then (ps. Lesson learnt by me and a few other drivers - just because the car in front can go that fast - doesn't mean you can!)

Agreed.Originally posted by THE_EGG View Postthis isn't racing, it is happy laps. It is just pushing a little harder and having fun.

Champion GTI
Hello I am a new user of MK GTI. I really want to join the sunday race....Originally posted by team_v View PostI think sam was being sarcastic as there is no way we would get close to 255.
I topped mine out at 170 at the end of the straight at lakeside but that would be about the top speed i would be comfortable doing and haven't put it over that.
Any more and people should be looking into a sprint session or general practice events rather than happy laps.

i've done QR a few times before, but some of you guys are seriously scaring me. Not because of the tarck, but the other drivers attitudes.

I had it up to 170km in my 1.4L last weekOriginally posted by audi-tone View PostGreat to hear. Driveshaft shouldn't rub much at all then. Probably been answered but is there an actual speed cap or is it within reason (what would the avg speed be on the back straight? (I know it will depend on car - I have mk4 gti)

The link for Queensland Raceway QLD Raceways is in the first post in this thread, as well as brief info to be aware of.Originally posted by simple_man View PostGuys, want to confirm adress: Lakeside Park Lakeside Road, Kurwongbah QLD 4503 ?
Anyone have GPS coordinates of the meeting spot? Where exactly do we meet up?
27°41′25″S 152°39′9″E / 27.69028°S 152.6525°E are the approximate co-ordinates - no responsibility taken if you wind up elsewhere though!
On entering the complex, you will see a tall structure which is the control tower. That will be the initial meeting place.

The only unpaved roads you would encounter is if you accessed the rear of the track through the township of Rosewood. Otherwise, it is all paved if accessing through the main entrance. From Brisbane, take the Cunningham Highway (Warwick) exit at Dinmore (beware, it has changed with the "new" Ipswich motorway and is now on the right, not left) and follow all the way to Willowbank, turn right at Champion's way and follow the (paved!) road past the drag strip entrance, kart track, up to the end where you will find Qld Raceway.Originally posted by nat225 View Postmy TomTom says.. There will be a driver briefing prior to being let loose on the track where you will be given all the info you need by the Track Marshall, as well as the opportunity to ask any questions. Each time the forum has driven at Lakeside, there is a speed limit given for the twisty parts of the circuit, and if the track is damp, a limit given for the straight.Originally posted by audi-tone View PostGreat to hear. This is shaping up to be a really great event; we have 39 confirmations so far including passengers, with 6 Drivers yet to confirm. There are 5 non VAG vehicles entered: Citroen DS3; Peugeot; Subaru STi; Fiat 500 Arbath and Honda Civic Type R, as well as VAG variants Audi and Skoda, which should make for an interesting mix.
Hope that the weather is kind on the day! Could everyone check the list in first post, and if you know any of the people who have not confirmed, please let them know to get in touch!
Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.Last edited by redline3345; 23-05-2012, 10:02 PM.
